US retail sales fell 1.1% in December, worse than the expected decline of 0.9% and the biggest decline in 12 months.
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has decided to keep its yield curve control policy unchanged, keeping key rates on hold and maintaining its dovish policy.
China’s economy or GDP grew by only 2.9% in the October-December period, the second slowest pace since the 1970s.
Prices also fell to a four-month low of +0.2% in November-December, according to Australia’s Monthly Inflation Gauge. Year-over-year, however, the measure is still +7.3%, but the lower month-over-month result should give the RBA some reassurance heading into his February meeting.
