Over a career spanning over 20 years, Maeve has established himself as one of the country’s leading political reporters. She came to The Post from her CNN to cover the 2016 and her 2020 presidential and midterm elections for both TV and digital audiences. She focused on the politics of the western half of the United States through her series of original digital videos called MaeveWest and others. The series explored some of the unique challenges facing the region, including drought and immigration, and the changing politics of Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado.
Before joining CNN in 2014, Maeve spent seven years as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. She wrote about policing, courts, and wildfires in the Inland Empire before moving into local, state, and national politics, with Republican Senator John McCain resurrected in his 2008 presidential campaign and Republican Mitt Romney. recorded that he ran for the White House.
Maeve also covered the 2004 presidential election from New Hampshire for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette before moving to Pennsylvania to tour its battleground states and more. Her first reporting job was with the Austin American Statesman, where she was in charge of education and the Texas legislature.
Maeve holds a BA in English from Cornell University and an MA from Dartmouth College. Her paper was about generational clashes within the families of decision makers in the Vietnam War after many of their children joined the anti-war movement. She lives on the East Side of Los Angeles with her 8-year-old daughter and her 7-month-old son, and hikes and explores the beaches of Southern California as often as possible.
