Baton Rouge – WBRZ’s longtime boss and leader Rocky Daboval is the last to leave the office. Our former general manager is going to be a full-time grandfather.
Daboval said his final goodbyes to the station on Friday.
“Working with so many great people, seeing so many great people grow up in this industry, in this television station…they gave me a sense of satisfaction, which is why this job is so rewarding. It’s become something of a thing,” D’Avoval said.
Daboval wasn’t always the big boss. He began working in his 1979 as part of the station’s sales team. Since then, he has worked with hundreds of people and built relationships that lasted decades.
WBRZ Executive Assistant Pallas Dunn said, “There may have been days when he had to be the bad guy, but the compassion he showed me over the years was truly memorable. I am,” he said.
“After I left the newspaper, I spent a lot of time in his office over the past decade just listening to him. He told me what to do. Manship Media’s COO Jake Manship said:

“He says what’s on his mind and has a heart of gold,” said Jennifer Dartes, director of human resources at WBRZ.
“We have been very lucky to develop an unending friendship over the years,” said Richard Manship, his longtime employer and friend and president of WBRZ. said.
In a career that has spanned generations, he has even had the opportunity to work with his own son.
“He’s been a big contributor to our sales,” says Brandon Daboval.
He will be greatly missed here in the newsroom and across the station, but D’Avoval is embarking on a new adventure.
“During the summer we can be with Rock because he doesn’t have to go to work,” said his grandson, Mitch Daboval.
Not really goodbye, let’s meet again.
“He’s just a phone call,” said Jake Manship.
