The two countries concluded the sixth round of negotiations on the FTA on 16 December, according to a joint outcome statement released by the British side on Thursday. “The seventh round of official-level negotiations is expected to take place in early 2023,” it said.
As with previous rounds, Round 6 was conducted in a hybrid format. A number of UK government officials traveled to New Delhi for negotiations, while others attended online.
“Technical discussions took place across 11 policy areas in 28 separate sessions. They included detailed draft treaty discussions in these policy areas,” the statement said.
