Massachusetts has launched a historic line of top leaders with Maura Healy as governor and Kim Driscoll as lieutenant governor. Some think Driscoll could recast the traditionally obscure role.
Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives has been in turmoil over the election of Republican Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.
And as the state legislature concluded its final session, lawmakers sought to pass a slew of bills, including one aimed at addressing the widespread theft of catalytic converters.
