TEHRAN – The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, showered his praises on General Qassem Soleimani on his third martyrdom anniversary.
Ayatollah Khamenei welcomed members of General Soleimani’s family on Jan. 1 as Iran prepares to mark the third anniversary of the martyrdom of the general assassinated by the United States in early 2020.
The meeting was also attended by General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ismail Qhani, Commander of the IRGC Quds Force, and members of the General Soleimani Martyrdom Memorial Headquarters.

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei publicly honored General Soleimani and explained that the people’s voluntary attendance at various memorial ceremonies was a result of General Soleimani’s sincere character. He said, “This year as well as last year, people are participating in these ceremonies with enthusiasm. By the grace of God, there is no problem or lack of gratitude for the meaningful existence of this country and General Soleimani.” ”
The leader of the revolution attributed some of the general’s personal characteristics to his courage, conviction, sense of responsibility, willingness to take risks, intelligence, rationality, and the way he took the initiative in carrying out unfinished business. Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need to keep alive the memory of all martyrs, and General Soleimani is one of the most prominent martyrs. He said that “various forms of art must be used to keep alive the memory of the martyr and his character in his personal life and work. We need to provide an explanation so that we can continue to respect them.”
At the beginning of the meeting, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Major General Salami explained that 3 January 2020, the day of the Martyr Soleimani’s martyrdom, was the day of his spiritual resurrection. He also listed some of the outstanding personal characteristics of Martyr Soleimani, stating, “The eternal legacy and glorious banner of Martyr Soleimani means that the banner of the Resistance is advancing on all fronts.”
General Soleimani’s daughter, Zeinab Soleimani, also gave a report on the cultural and social activities of the Qasem Soleimani Foundation at the conference.
