Bowling Green, Kentucky (WBKO) – Seventy years after the first model left the assembly line in Flint, Michigan, the Corvette got a new makeover for 2024.
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray will be the first model to offer an electrified, electronic all-wheel drive powertrain.
In EV-only mode, the new model features front-wheel drive, another first.
The hybrid powertrain and LT2 V8 engine allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest version ever.
Some Corvette enthusiasts may not be happy with the change to hybrid models, but this is a step in a new direction that allows them to compete with Porsche and other high-end brands that can handle all four seasons.
Bryan Baker, director of collections and education at the National Corvette Museum, said this is another step in providing a better vehicle for the brand’s enthusiasts.
“It was a new era for Corvettes in the same way that Chevrolet decided to build a mid-engined Corvette for 2020, the fact that we are entering completely new territory,” Baker said. . “
Pricing for the E-Ray Hybrid Coupe starts at $104,295 and the convertible version at $111,295.
