General Motors (NYSE:) today announced plans for the automaker to invest $918 million in four manufacturing locations in the United States. This includes his $854 million to prepare those facilities to produce the company’s sixth-generation small-block V-8 engine, plus his additional $64 million at New Rochester. will be York, Ohio and Defiance provide castings and components to support EV production. These investments will enable the company to strengthen its industry-leading full-size truck and his SUV businesses and continue to support the company’s growing portfolio of his EV products.

$579 million of the investment will go to the company’s plant in Flint, Michigan, where it will assemble GM’s sixth generation small block V-8 gas engine family, along with the associated block, crank and head machining. Prepare $216 million will go to Bay City GPS in Michigan to prepare a facility to build camshafts, connecting rods and block/head machining to support Flint’s production of his V-8 .
GM will invest $55 million in the Defiance facility in Ohio. $47 million will be invested to prepare the facility to build various block castings to support future V-8 engine programs. Additionally, the investment includes his $8 million to build a foundry foundry development cell to support future EV strategies.
Rochester Operations in New York will receive $68 million, of which $12 million will be invested to prepare the facility to build intake manifolds and fuel rails. Additionally, the investment includes $56 million to produce battery pack cooling lines for EV production.

GM shares are up 0.28% near the close on Friday.
