The Corsicana City Council, at its regular meeting on Monday, ordered the city’s general elections to be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Registered voters in the city have the opportunity to vote for mayor. Percentage 3 and Pct. 4 Council Member. The offices of City Attorney and City Court Judge are also up for vote.
Percentage 3 Rep. Chris Woolsey and District Court Judge Cody Beauchamp announced they are seeking re-election.
The deadline for applications to run for city hall or school office is February 17th.
The council also decided to extend the oil and gas lease between the City of Corsicana and Means Oil Company, LLC for 10 years. means Oil Company LLC. requested a 10-year extension of the original five-year contract.
The lease for a total area of 16.24 acres expires in 2033. The lease is expected to facilitate increased oil production at city-owned wells. The well brings about $2,500 to the city.
The council also voted to declare a school bus owned by the Parks and Recreation Department redundant, allowing city managers to salvage the engine from it.
The council was adjourned to executive session after approving the consent agenda. No action was taken as a result of that executive session.
The City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 200 N. 12th St.
