Bullock County, Georgia (WTOC) – Georgia legislators from across the state will meet in Atlanta to kick off the 2023 General Assembly sessions.
This includes Brock County freshman representatives.
The region’s newest lawmaker says he spent the summer and fall preparing for work in Atlanta.
Lehman Franklin finished a few things before leaving for Atlanta. He will take the oath of office as state representative on Monday, but he said he has been learning and researching since he ran without a vote.
“I have meetings with different leaders and different programs and organizations two or three times a week, so I know what’s going to happen,” said Rep. Lehman Franklin.
He says he’s worked with his predecessor, Jan Tankersley, as well as others representing Bullock, Brian, and some of the neighboring counties. He says there is a lot of work ahead of him.
“There’s a lot to learn. But to be honest, I’m grateful to the community for giving me the opportunity to do this.”
The legislative session begins on Monday.
