JANUARY 22 — PIERRE, SD — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has announced that the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), at the request of the Rapid City Police Department, is scheduled to open at 10:17 PM (MDT) Thursday, January 19, 2023.
The investigation revolved around an incident in which Rapid City police officers were in an area north of Rapid City, and one male subject was followed by foot. I was.

Jack Lee said the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.
The DCI will lead the investigation, Jackley said, adding that Rapid City Police will cooperate with the investigation.
DCI processes crime scenes, conducts forensic investigations of all evidence collected, interviews officers and witnesses, and reviews all body and video cameras worn by officers in the area.
After the investigation is complete, the DCI will issue an incident report and shooting summary for review by the Attorney General to make a final decision regarding the officers’ actions. The release of the synopsis is expected within he 30 days.
