A petition was filed last week with the state medical licensing board to prevent Dr. William David Moore from practicing medicine. In it, the AG’s office called Moore a “clear and present danger to the public.”
So far, the attorney general’s office has reported that at least four of Moore’s former patients and a nurse have filed complaints against him. I am writing that I anticipate that the allegations will come. I am asking the state board for an emergency hearing to suspend Moore’s license.
It’s been less than a month since Moore announced he was retiring from the medical practice and closing Marion’s office.
A consumer complaint filed with the Attorney General’s Office said one patient went to see Moore in April last year. The person listed as “Patient A” said that during the examination Moore told her he was going to insert a speculum into her vagina and take a picture. I believed you were going to take an internal image using it.
Patient A then heard the shutter sound associated with the iPad or iPhone. She said he removed her speculum, inserted her finger, and rubbed her genitals in a way that she found sexual. She reported the incident to the Indiana State Police.
Patient A then posted on Facebook that she had been sexually assaulted by her gynecologist during an examination and had been photographed without her consent. Within 30 minutes of that post, she began receiving messages from women asking if she was Dr. Moore, according to her stop-posting petition.
The petition reports that 20 to 25 women have been in contact with Patient A so far.
According to the petition, Patient B told investigators that she asked if Moore was sexually active during the visit. Patient B said no and said she was a virgin. He replied, “Oh, you are so pure.”
During that same appointment, Patient B reported that Moore told her:
After meeting with detectives, Patient B learns that her medical record contains multiple photographs of her lower body, including her genitals.
Other patients had Moore touched them inappropriately, took non-consensual pictures of their genitals, and took them for frequent examinations without providing results.
A nurse at Marion General Hospital also came forward. She reported being told by a nurse who worked with Moore that she had to help cover her knees during vaginal delivery because she often had erections during labor. , he said he reported it to Marion General Hospital.
Moore is still listed as a healthcare provider on the Marion General Hospital website. He is also listed as a health officer with the Grant County Health Department.
The Indiana Medical Licensing Board is scheduled to hold a hearing on Moore next week.
13News has reached out to the Grant County Attorney’s Office regarding this matter. They said no case reports or documents were provided to consider possible prosecution.
