Our real rewards are caring for patients, welcoming babies into the world, and making breakthroughs in research, but it doesn’t matter when our work is recognized by peers and colleagues. I have. Below are just a few from the past year.
clinical care
- Milena Weinstein, MD was named Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The FACS Credential exists to facilitate the professional growth and development of surgeons, to promote high standards and best practices in surgical care, and to establish and maintain patient confidence in the competence and integrity of surgeons. These Fellows are a rare breed, and Dr. Weinstein, with all of his surgical expertise in Urology and Gynecology, fits perfectly with this perception as a key member of the Mass General’s Gender-Affirmative Surgery team.
- Catherine D. Posius, MD, MPHour Family Planning Medical Director recently received a new Board Accredited Subspecialty, Complex Family Planning Board Accreditation
- Dr. Ali Pecchei, M.D. received this year Association of General Obstetricians and Gynecologists Faculty Awards honoring dedication and dedication to the ideals of an academic generalist

- Andrea Edrow, MD, MSc, Received NIH R01 funding for work planned in collaboration with Roy Perlis of Psychiatry. A cellular model of fetal neurodevelopment in maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection.
- Caroline Mitchell, MD, MPH received R01 funding from the NIH for her trial of vaginal microbiota transplantation to promote lactobacillus-dominant cervicovaginal communities. This translational research offers breakthrough therapeutic potential and is based on the basic science of the Mitchell Institute.
- Ilona Goldfarb, MD, MPHreceived an award from the Foundation for Risk Management for her project “Improving Postnatal Hypertension Management: A Randomized Controlled Trial Investigating Algorithms to Improve Quality of Care and Reduce Inequities.”
- Gynecologic Oncology Society Awarded Amy Breger, M.D. Women’s Cancer Foundation grant for her research aimed at early detection of ovarian cancer
